It is only the lemon which possesses a little harm for the well-being of the rat due to the citric acid present in them, especially the male rats.

This is the reason why it is very important to always research about the new treat you want to serve the rats or any other pets you have.

You will be aware of any toxic substance that may present in the treats and how to go about it.

if it happens that a toxic substance is present in the treat, you are definitely going to ignore it and serve your pet rat with something else.

It is not a good idea to always serve your pet rat any treat out of ignorance. This is the easiest way to harm your pet rat.

Always ensure that you serve the pet rats something safe for their well-being. Never feed them with something you don’t know about anytime.

How can I introduce hummus to the pet rats?

Hummus might appear strange to the pet rats when you serve them for the first time.

So you need to serve a little amount of the hummus for the pet rats the first time you want to introduce it to them.

The rats are going to be cautious the first time they see the hummus. They are going to try out a small amount as a result.

When this happens, don’t be in a hurry to conclude that they are not interested in the treat you serve.

They are doing this to see if the hummus  you serve them goes down well with their body system.

If the rats find the hummus you serve palatable, they are going to finish everything you serve in the feeders.

Another method is to wait until the rats are hungry. The rats are subsettable to anything you serve them when the hunger strikes.

The trick is to raise their appetite before you serve them with the hummus. You can serve yourself the hummus in their presence and consume.

The rats are going to do all sorts of things in order to get your attention and to notify you that they are interested in what you are eating.

After a while, you can then serve them the hummus and they are going to finish everything in no time.

Can I serve hummus for the rat everyday?

It takes a lot of time and effort to prepare hummus. I don’t think there will be someone who will embark on preparing hummus every day for the family, not to talk of serving the pet rats.
